1 john 5: 14
As I was cooking today, bro Tony took over, so I went inside to my classroom where I have Sunday school. I started praying for myself as I will be teaching tomorrow. Then I prayed for the teenagers who show up, I started to pray for them one by one. I would pray that God would take this ss lesson, & apply it to there hearts & lives. Anyway back to my blog I was interrupted. As I was praying I looked up @ a verse posted on my wall 1 JOHN 5: 14b "if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us". That word "if", very strong 2 letter word. Have we asked? Will it be His will? I want a house, but never really prayed for the money for it. Sure he can provide the house, but I don't want nothing I cannot pay for in the long run. So I want to pay off my van, & do away with some debt. I am scared of the payment, but God will guide me through it. It will be a while before I can get rid of my van payment , but I want to give my family a decent home with at least 3 bedrooms 2 bath, nothing fancy. If it comes with a garage or a shop that would be awesome. So please pray so He can hear me, or one of us.

its not that "if" is strong but it is conditianal, Martin Luther in 1525 preached a message after the fifth Sunday of Easter on this verse but not just this verse but also verse 15, you need to grasp both verses to have the affect in our Christian life. Martin Luther said this;.....1Jo 5:14-15: "And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth: and if we know that he heareth us whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him." John describes with these words how a truly believing heart is disposed in prayer, namely, that it is concerned about nothing else than that its prayer be heard, knowing that it has even then obtained its petition. That is also true. Such faith and definite assurance, however, the Holy Spirit must impart; therefore, without the Holy Spirit, surely no prayer will be offered.
That is my only concern that my prayer is heard. That "if" is conditional towards the individual.
James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts......Ye ask, and receive not,… Some there were that did ask of God the blessings of his goodness and providence, and yet these were not bestowed on them; the reason was,
because ye ask amiss; not in the faith of a divine promise; nor with thankfulness for past mercies; nor with submission to the will of God; nor with a right end, to do good to others, and to make use of what might be bestowed, for the honour of God, and the interest of Christ: but
that ye may consume it upon your lusts; indulge to intemperance and luxury; as the man that had much goods laid up for many years did, to the neglect of his own soul, Lu 12:19 or the rich man, who spent all upon his back and his belly, and took no notice of Lazarus at his gate; Lu 16:19.
Juan,
I think the Lord wants to hear the desires of our heart and he knows that your motives are pure. He will give you what you ask for if it is for his good and his glory. I am with you in prayer for this request and God is so good to us that I think it would please him to give one of his children a gift, Just as it pleases us to be able to give our children gifts. I'm praying Gods will for your sweet family.
Hey, this is exciting. I love to see God bless his chldren. Pay your tites, give a little above the tithes (that's your offerings) and he will give back to you good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. Contrary to independent Baptist beliefs, he is not a stingy God. He loves to give gifts to his children. On the other hand, I've had my home taken away twice; once when I was ready to have Kim and then when we went to Mexico. I have learned that we don't have to have all the trimmings to get by, and I have learned that God will give back to you in abundance what you give to Him. I am living proof.
So Juan, either way, whether He does or doesn't give you a house, we are asking Him for one and it will be good to see if he will. And it will be good to learn why he won't. It's a learning process and any thing that helps us get closer to God is worth it. But make sure before He does anything that you give it back to him to be used for his glory. And feed preachers. And house missionaries. That's what the little woman done for Elijah and she never went without the means to make food. I love that story. Well, I need to go pray. Been slacking up on that lately and I can sure tell the difference. BTW, did you tell him what kind you wanted?
is it wrong that the first thing that came to mind when reading this blog was the movie Walk The Line when John tells June:
"there's to many ifs in that sentence June"
@ sal no comment
@sal, I don't remember that part.
@ PW Thanks Sis & maybe my wife will let us have housewarming cookout.
@ gramma thanks, I love to house people especially missionaries & visiting preachers, U can ask my wife I always wanted a guest rm or a garage with a place above it. I would go to Odenm, Tx & they had that missions quarters & it was a blessing. I would like a brick home with concrete foundation. No more frame homes I am done with them. If I get it fine, If I don't that's still fine praise HIM anyway,HE knows what HE is doing.
Amen, Juan. That's the attitude to have. Remember in the movie "Gacing The Giants," when that woman said, "I'll still serve you God," or was it, "I'll still love you, God." if she could not get pregnant. That's what Paul meant when he said, and I paraphrase cause I don't have my Bible in front of me...I have learnt whatsoever situation I'm in, therewith to be content. I know thats not right but I don't know it by heart. So, ya reckon we should give DeeDee a household shower, cause the rain is on the way.
@ gramma I like your thinking, I will prepare the fields for the rain
